Position Title: Customer Technical Support Specialist III
Location: Fargo
Salary: $3,380 - $3,944 per month, including single health insurance plan.
Status: Temporary Full-time
Minimum Qualifications
Requires completion of high school or GED and eight years of data and information processing work experience including at least one year in a lead worker or supervisory capacity. Each year of work experience as a customer technical support specialist may be substituted for two years of the work experience requirement. An associate degree in a computer science, data processing, telecommunications, or business administration field may be substituted for two years of the work experience requirement. A bachelor''s degree in computer science, data processing, telecommunications, or business administration field may be substituted for four years of the work experience requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to individuals that have experience with troubleshooting, resolving basic issues, and gathering information to escalate unresolved issues. Also experience with troubleshooting and problem resolving business applications. Customer service experience including research and developing and thorough responses to customer inquiries. Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, efficiently, and effectively with a diverse group of people in a creative and dynamic work setting. Summary of Work
Receive, record and track all reported problems encountered by system users (internal and external).
Assign priority levels to each problem based on an analysis of the situation.
Isolate problems to specific system and/or system components, i.e., hardware or software.
Perform first level resolution techniques utilizing historically known solutions and software or hardware diagnostic and testing tools.
Issue commands within the system and/or instructions to users to correct specific problems.
Relay problems that cannot be resolved through first level resolution techniques to the appropriate section within the appropriate core process or vendor.
Track and document progress of the steps being taken to resolve problems; determine if resolution progress is within the objective of assigned priority; contact
responsible supervisor/manager to escalate efforts for resolution.
Work with other technical staff during implementation of new applications, equipment, and/or changes.
Develop and maintain procedures for resolving user problems associated with new or changed applications or equipment.
Implement and maintain new or changed software configurations/settings within or between various systems and users to provide required connectivity.
Maintain information and/or prepare reports as required in support of the problem management and resolution process.
May perform in a lead worker capacity and provide limited supervision of other staff within the support function.
Provides assistance in the development and implementation of procedures in support of the problem management process.
Person will work one-on-one with internal (staff) and external (students, stakeholders) users to resolve issues on multiple ND CDE systems.
Track and oversee the progress of all problem issues submitted.
Work with technology and learning team members to resolve complex issues involving multiple systems.
Provides assistance in the development and implementation of the documentation system and related processes.
Assist with and receive training in servicing problems of an unusual or complex nature in a variety of systems or system configurations.

# About the Center for Distance Education
The North Dakota Center for Distance Education (NDCDE) provides online and distance learning to middle and high school students and schools in North Dakota, as well as many other states and several foreign countries. NDCDE was established by the ND legislature in 1935. It has operated continuously since its creation. Today, NDCDE offers over 300 semester length courses online for students in grades 6 - 12, including all courses required to earn a ND high school diploma. Courses offered by NDCDE include core courses, electives, Advanced Placement (AP), dual credit and credit recovery courses.
