PURPOSE OF JOB
The Technical Specialist I is a developmental role with mentoring support from the more experienced Technical Specialists and the Team Lead. Under direct supervision, the Technical Specialist I will be responsible for user testing of DMO developed tools and R&D; software during process prototyping. Conducts design and development verification to assess and confirm prototype assumptions for cost, quality and scalability prior to pilot execution. Leverages functional knowledge for all software, supporting tools and technical documents developed in prototyping to execute the pilot project. Provides functional knowledge to training development and delivery in both the global launch and scale phases of production. Provides technical support in the launch stage.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Support Global Operations Technology on prototyping activities and processes, and acquire functional knowledge to support the pilot, launch and scale processes
Support Production Engineering on technology initiatives, tool development and process optimization
Support the creation and execution of technology deployment plans
Identify product / project requirements, technical tool and document gaps, and communicate specification issues to internal stakeholders
Participate with user acceptance testing (UAT) of R&D; and DMO developed software
Develop work instructions and provide input for Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Analyze completed prototype, pilot and launch projects to identify gaps, further requirements or specification issues
Review and update production specific work plans and instructional documentation
Execute project launch activities
Educate Tech Ops and R&D; on production processes
Point of technical contact between Global Operations Technology and Advanced Production teams
## Qualifications
Undergraduate degree required (Major/Minor: GIS/Geography, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Earth Science or related science/technology field)
0-2 years relevant work experience
Proficient problem solving skills (i.e., 8D, RCA, Lean Six Sigma Basics)
Capable of performing detailed process analysis
Ability to understand test matrices and regression testing
Working knowledge of technical writing concepts, requirements, internal software development practices and UAT
Ability to work in a team environment
Experience with GIS and mapping software packages including ArcGIS, XML Spy, FME and IDQ
Experience with modeling software including Maya, 3D Studio Max and Illustrator
Proficient in the use of of MEL, Python, PyMEL and/or maxscript
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
