The Cereal Crops Research Unit in Fargo, North Dakota, is seeking a Biological Science Technician to assist a Research Plant Pathologist.
This is a term, time-limited appointment with an initial duration no less than 13 months and can be extended up to a total of 4 years.
Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. You must be a US Citizen or US National. SSR The Cereal Crops Research Unit located in Fargo, North Dakota, is seeking a full time, Biological Science Technician, to support scientists with research.
Major Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Assists with one or more phases of research process by performing a variety of technical duties in a laboratory, field or greenhouse
Performs routine and reocurring techniques and studies using specialized equipment
Maintains, calibrates and modifies equipment and automated systems used for test and evaluation procedures
Collects, prepares, evaluates and verifies samples
Keeps detailed records of experimental data
Tabulates, analyzes and summarizes data using software packages

GS-05 :
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. At least 6 semester hours of courses must have been directly related to the position to be filled.
OR
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level. Specialized experience is defined as: experience performing technical duties in laboratory, field or greenhouse; collecting, preparing, evaluating and verifying samples; keeping records of data collection and evaluations using a computer or lab notebook; maintaining pure fungal cultures in the lab using sterile techniques; performing basic molecular biology techniques including DNA extractions, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), or DNA cloning; planting, fertilizing, and maintaining plants in the greenhouse and field; inoculating plants to induce disease symptoms; rate disease symptoms on plants, e.g., wheat and barley, and collecting and organizing data involved sing Excel or similar spreadsheet program, and analyzing and managing data using Microsoft Excel and other specialized software.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
